It does look confusing at first to setup, but after you do it once, its quite easy to do it again :)

The biggest problem is that we rarely hook these things up. I spent a weekend setting up my equipment 5 years ago when we moved and haven’t touched it since. I have forgotten everything and will need to reread the manuals if I change something.

Really little bit difficult for newbies but you explain quite well with all the snaps, not an easy to do but with photos it will be helpful to setup properly.

Yes, that’s an excellent guide to room construction for home theaters. It includes the correct required distance of speakers from the viewer.

I’m pretty much a newbie when it comes to home theater. I’m wanting to learn, but wondering if someone could offer me some suggestions on where to start, and where to research.
Right now I have a basic setup with tv, surround, satellite, dvd, etc. I’m building a projector based movie theater in another room. The two basic things I want to do is:
1) Keep my AV equipment in one room, and have it be able to route the outputs to the theater room. That way I don’t have to double up in equipment, since I won’t be using the theater much of the time. I didn’t know if it was best to use switches, if they make something else to do that, etc.
2) I’d like to set up a spare computer I have to act as a DVR. If I can use the computer to control anything above that would be great.

Another question is, what’s the best way to handle the remotes? A repeater?

Thanks for any information or suggestions.

To avoid confusion make sure you have all the cables you need at the start - otherwise you’ll think youre done when your still missing cables and youll be wondering why its not working…im speaking from experience.
